Data Integration (DI) is the process that extracts and transforms the data into a consistent format to enable consolidated reporting. It handles the complex integration and rationalisation of information, both structured and unstructured, which is collected from across the organisation and externally. It provides both real-time and batch data integration.
Data integration within an IM environment is usually focused around the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels presented in the diagram below. This includes the effective identification of the source data and then the Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) of the data into the data warehouse. But can also include further integration of the data into data marts for specific reporting needs. |

In additional, a key aspect, is the provision of the metadata to provide transparency of the entire lifecycle from source extraction through to how the information is used to support decision management.
Data integration is a key element of Acuma IVM and is fully integrated within the complete information lifecycle methodology. Acuma has practical experience of all of the leading data integration toolsets.
